Abby + Dusty

Abby and Dusty were married Friday, July 3rd, at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway. Their reception took place at Star Hill Ranch, one of our favorite venues. We met Abby, along with her mom and sister, last January at the Austin Wedding Day Bridal Extravaganza. Abby submitted her wedding in our "most colorful" category and won a sweet prize. (she saved LOTS of money)

Abby and Dusty had tons of family and it was a very relaxed evening. Her grandfather and uncles turned out to be great musicians and played on and off the entire evening. The theme of the wedding was red, white, and blue. Very timely I thought. :) Abby's bridesmaids were dressed in either deep red or blue and Abby's gown had a deep red sash and she wored dark blue heels. The guys had matching vests. The flowers were simple and colorful and looked like wildflower bouquets.

Abby's family decorated with bunting, and all sorts of red, white, and blue accessories. One of Abby's aunts made their cake, a towering confection of blue with white stars.

It was a great evening and we have lots of images to share, although most of them will be in the proof gallery in two weeks.

Congrats Abby and Dusty - enjoy your time in Key West!

Vacation at Last :)

I'm headed to Santa Fe, New Mexico tomorrow and I'll be gone about a week. I'm not sure if I'll be able to use my computer or to receive calls or texts. I'm hoping they'll all work, but you never know about areas around mountains. Should you need to speak to me or send me a text, give it a try and hopefully I'll get it.

My family and I traveled through New Mexico to Colorado for many summers when I was a kid, up until my college years. I love it there and the Santa Fe area of northern New Mexico is a favorite. I'm traveling with my sister, her two daughters, and my two nieces from Round Rock. It should be a great family adventure! I just hope that hearing High School Musical 3 (or whatever is the current favorite) 500 times from the backseat of my sister's family cruiser doesn't leave me completely crazy by the time we return. ;-)

Kris + Steven

Kris and Steven were married today at the Chapel Dulcinea. It was a beautiful day for a wedding! Blue skies, puffy clouds, and a bit of a breeze. After their ceremony and the requisite photos, Kris and Steven did something that have made us nominate them for Best Couple Ever. They gave us TWO hours in downtown Austin to ride with them in their limo and jump out and take fun shots where ever we saw the opportunity. It was great. We had so much fun. :) By the time the actual reception at the Thistle Cafe rolled around we were very hot and a bit tired but this couple rallied and joined their family and friends in a marvelous dining space to celebrate the rest of their wedding day. One of the highlights of our journey around Austin was going to Auditorium Shores in their wedding finery to hang out with the runners and the dogs. Another was going to a local Austin bar and running into the famous "Leslie". That was an experience!

Best wishes Kris and Steven - we totally enjoyed our day with you and send you the very best of wishes for your future together. :)

ps - more photos tomorrow...

Cara + Justin

Cara and Justin are going to be married this fall in Rockport, but chose to have their engagement pictures made at Zilker Botanical Gardens here in Austin. The gardens were beautiful and Cara and Justin were great. I'm just glad the mosquitos didn't carry off Cara! Note to self: put the bug spray back in the camera bag...it's summer!

Here are just a few of Cara and Justin for this evening -

Nikki + Teck

Nikki and Teck were married this afternoon in Round Rock. They had planned an outdoor ceremony, but instead were faced with a torrential downpour! They moved their wedding inside their house and rolled with all the changes. They were exceedingly calm considering they had to revamp their entire wedding in a very short amount of time. :)

Nikki and Teck had family in from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Maryland. It was a treat for Katie and me to be with this wonderful family at such a special time. Nikki wore a white wedding gown for the ceremony and then changed into a traditional red Chinese wedding dress for the elders' tea ceremony.

Congrats Nikki and Teck!

Chrystina + John

Chrystina and John were married Saturday evening at the Mandola Estates Winery near Driftwood. The weather was beautiful, almost as beautiful as Chrystina! She was absolutely stunning. :) Chrystina and John had close family and friends to witness the joining of not just their relationship, but also the building of a new family between the two of them and John's daughters. It was really a special moment for the four of them.

The winery served an impressive meal topped off with their wines and tiramisu. The evening wound down with dancing under colored lights under the oaks.

Congratulations Chrystina and John and best wishes for your ever lasting happiness!

Katie and Casey

It's not often I have both my kids at the same wedding so I took the opportunity to make this stellar shot. ;) Aren't they cute?

Liz + Justin

Liz and Justin were married yesterday evening at Kindred Oaks in Georgetown. This was a special wedding for Katie and I since Liz has lived next door since she and Katie were four. My son and Liz's brother are close friends as well so it was like photographing family. :) Liz's dad passed away a few weeks ago so her big brother James (Jimmy) stepped in to walk her down the aisle. I know Jim would have been so proud of all four of his children yesterday. Sisters Susan and Jessica were bridesmaids.

It's always hard to see your kids (or ones who feel like they are yours) go through big life changes, like...starting kindergarten and getting married...so it was bittersweet to see Liz take this step. I'll miss having her and her family next door, but I'm super happy for Liz and Justin. They are just right for each other.

All the best you two. Enjoy Hawaii!
XOXO

Sarah + Eric

Sarah and Eric were married Sunday, April 19th at the Shoreline Grill downtown. They had a lovely outdoor ceremony attended by family and friends. The cake was provided by our good friend Angi at Blue Note Bakery. Beautiful floral arrangements, a lovely evening by the lake, and the company of good friends made this a memorable ceremony. :)

Rebecca + Scott

I'm finally posting Rebecca and Scott. They were married on April 18th at Becker Vineyards in Stonewall. It was a perfect day after a week of rain. The winery and the adjoining lavender fields were a great backdrop for this special couple. Their proof gallery will be up in the next couple of days. :)
